Story
Shahid Kapoor's latest film, Kabir Singh, has been severely
criticized by many critics for his "flawless celebration of toxic
masculinity". Despite the negative reviews, the film makes fun of the
bank, with an opening day of 20.21 crore of rupees. Not only that, if you watch
the movie in a theater like me, you will also find many in the audience who
enjoy the violent explosions of Kabir - played brilliantly by Shahid Kapoor -
who, of course, tells you a lot about us an audience .
In spite of all the relevant criticisms directed against
Kabir Singh's character, one of the worst things in this film must be the main
woman of the film, Preeti Sikka, described by Kiara Advani.
Shahid Kapoor's latest publication, Kabir Singh, which was screened
Friday, was criticized for glorifying violence as love and encouraging
misogyny. In the film, Shahid plays the role of a completely self-destructive
angry surgeon who behaves violently after his girlfriend Preeti (Kiara Advani)
has married another man, not his choice. Those who have seen Kabir Singh are
disappointed by the portrayal of Shahid's character and the film's overall
story. Many have questioned the intention of filmmakers to celebrate misogyny.
"Kabir Singh, the kind of film that should not have been shot, let alone
redone, how to let a movie not only normalize, but also celebrate misogyny and
sexism? Terrible, easily one of the worst movies that I never watched,
"said a Twitter user. "Kabir Singh glorifies and normalizes abusive
relationships and violence," wrote one person.
